Every Link Matters

“Every Link Matters”

One of the most important things we can do at AXIS Research & Technologies is to further the advancement of education and knowledge. “When the goal is to help raise awareness about a devastating rare disease that affects children and their families and is now being linked to Parkinson’s, we are 100% on board with donating our time and facility”, says CEO Mr. Nick Moran.

In the USA a rare disease is classified as a disease that affects less than 200,000 Americans. Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency is a mutation on the NUBPL gene. This rare disease effects Complex I of the Electron Transport chain. This essentially effects the production of energy. Many symptoms of this disorder effect organs and tissues like the heart, brain, and skeletal muscles, which have a high-energy demand.

On February 25th, 2016, over 100 people came to AXIS Research & Technologies to support The Spooner Foundation. This is an amazing foundation that focuses on raising money and awareness for crucial research that is being done about a rare disease called Mitochondrial Complex I Deficiency.

This event was the 2nd annual event of its kind and it was orchestrated by the Spooner Family who have two children that were born with this rare disease. The event, called The Especially Beautiful Fashion Show brings families together with children that are affected by rare diseases. The children put on a heart -warming fashion show, followed by an informational lecture from some of the top researchers from UCI studying this disease.
